Detroit has always been a city of makers, innovators and people who aren't afraid to create something new. Spend the day going behind the scenes at three distinctly Detroit businesses where craftsmanship, sustainability and innovation come together.

Our day begins with an exclusive factory tour at Pingree Detroit, a worker-owned cooperative co-owned by veterans and Detroiters. CEO and Co-Founder Jarret Schlaff will personally take us inside their Detroit workshop to see how their 18-person team transforms automotive leather and other materials left over from the production of new cars into handcrafted footwear, bags and accessories. Since 2015, Pingree has diverted more than 65,000 pounds of automotive material from landfills while operating a 99% waste-free, carbon-neutral workshop. We'll see the process firsthand before visiting their flagship store near Comerica Park, with time to browse and shop. Everyone gets a Pingree hardcover moleskin-style journal to take home.

After an included lunch in Downtown Detroit, we'll experience an entirely different kind of Detroit innovation at the new Hudson's Detroit development. Here, we'll visit EveryHuman, home to the first U.S. location of its AI-guided fragrance experience. Through Algorithmic Perfumery, artificial intelligence uses your answers to a series of questions to create a scent inspired by you. It's a fascinating look at how emerging technology is changing something as personal and artistic as fragrance creation. Each guest leaves with their own beautifully packaged fragrance set.

Our final stop takes us from cutting-edge technology to a craft with centuries of history at Signal-Return, Detroit's nonprofit letterpress studio. We'll tour the working studio and learn how traditional printing presses, movable type and hands-on craftsmanship are being preserved and reimagined by today's artists and designers.

From automotive materials given a second life to fragrances created with artificial intelligence and the enduring art of letterpress, this isn't just a tour of things made in Detroit. It's a look at the people, ideas and ingenuity shaping what Made in Detroit means today.
